Gulch, which flows into Burns Creek about four miles northeast of Hornitos.

TRUJILLO MINES GROUP

complex of mines was located at the headwaters of Burns Creek, about 5.5 AIR
miles northeast of Hornitos.

This 1850s mining camp was located between Hornitos and Indian
Gulch. Exact location not determined.
TYRO MINE
AKA – Rittershoffen Mine
Located
in the Coulterville
Mining District, about a mile southwest of
Coulterville and just
south of the Malvina Mine. Consolidated into the Malvina Group.
It was worked from the 1850s through the early 1900s. It produced about $110,000 in gold.

UNCLE JIM MINE
This old mine was
located in the Clearinghouse
Mining District. Actual location
not determined.
This c1884 gold mine was located in the Sweetwater
Mining District, and was owned by Mr. RICE
and

USONA
The name of this rural post office (1913-1942), fire station and
scattered community, is an acronym standing for the United
States Of North
America.
It is located on the north side of the junction of SH 49/Usona
Road, 10.4 miles east of Mormon Bar (12 miles east-southeast of Mariposa).

VANDERBILT MINE
The 400 ft tunnel of
this hard rock mine was located on
Located on Virginia
Point, west of SH 49 at a point 3.8 miles north of Bagby,
four miles south of Coulterville,
and just north of Bagby Summit. This is another early hard rock mine. Between 1850 and the 1950s, it produced over
$660,000 in gold from its 1300’ inclined shaft.
Total production amounted to $824,000.
It is one of the earliest patented mines in the state.
