YELLOW METALS MINE

Located in the Saxton Creek area of the Whitlock Mining District.  Actual location not determined.

 

YELLOWSTONE MINE (#1)

A gold mine located in Hunter Valley north of CR J-16, about two miles northwest of Bear Valley.

 

YELLOWSTONE MINE (#2)

Located in the Bagby Mining District, about a mile west of Bear Valley.

 

YOSEMITE MILL

A gold stamp mill located in the Hornitos Mining District.  Actual location not determined.

 

YOSEMITE VALLEY RAILROAD (YVRR)

This ghost railroad ran 78 miles from Merced to El Portal and parallels the Merced River north of Briceburg.  It was built in 1905-1907 and ran daily passenger and freight until the mid 1930s when SH 140 was built to Yosemite Valley.  Service quickly ended and was supplanted by car, bus and truck traffic.  The tracks were pulled by the mid 1940s.
