EARLY MINE
This gold mine was located in the Sweetwater
Mining District, and was originally discovered by Thomas EARLY, an early-day county
sheriff. In 1883, it was owned by Mr. RICE and Mr. FERGUSON. Its actual location is not determined.

know what the status of this “map dot” is, but it is located
at the junction of SH 49/East Westfall Road, 15.1 miles east of Mariposa. We drove by
the location on April 11, 2002, and there appears to be nothing at the site, or
else we totally missed it. (GBS)

EMORY
Limestone quarries and a
Yosemite Valley Railroad station/shipping center were located here. It was established in 1927, and closed in
1945. In 1975 ruins still remained.
