LITTLE CHARLIE MINE
One of several dozen mines located in the Sherlock-Whitlock

Mining District.

town of Mariposa,
it was a small mining camp along the west side of Mariposa Creek, about a half
mile below the present town. After
floods wiped out the camp, the citizens moved to higher ground and rebuilt.
In
the 1885, this Hornitos Mining District gold mine
was active, but its location is not determined.
The BRANSON store was also located
here.
This copper mine was located in the

directly on the Mother Lode vein system.
