Welcome and Introductions by Carroll and Councillor Tanner
Carroll briefly referenced the Survey and asked the question, "What are the Priorities"?
It was suggested that there needs to be a more consistent means of relaying information, such as:

- email list
- regular updates posted on Museum website

The question was asked: "How do Tancook residents find out information on things like getting high speed internet?"

v Action - get information on possibilities for high speed internet options for the island
v Action - Check into first-aid supplies such as ice-packs - for the ferry
v Action - Get information on what is involved with getting a defibulator on the ferry?
v Action - get information on setting up a "community council" or similar group for residents and Councillor

A community council could provide an organized approach to services such as an oil truck, a well driller, more gravel for road repairs and improved community communications. It could consist of a group of representatives from each community group.

Who needs to be contacted if the roads need to be rebuilt? It was last done in 1978.
How frequently will they be maintained with proper resources?
v Action - Councillor Tanner will address these two questions at the next council meeting

Tancook needs another derelict vehicle program. Councillor Tanner stated that she is currently working with Jen Langille at the LRCRC.

It was mentioned that the ferry should maybe use their intercom system more frequently and announce which island their on.

It was mentioned that there needs to be a list of available services posted on the island.

On the visitor map, it should be stated "dogs must be on leash"

Maybe even "this island recycles"

Spring workshop ideas:
· should be held in early June (after Lobster season)
· a "wellness day" would include a fitness counselor, nutritionist, a massage therapist, "couples massage" course · intro computer course (5 computers at school)
· an "ecotour" for residents
· OHV safety certification
· RCMP - security discussions

Summer program - 9 kids full time - more in summer - it was mentioned that the best time to run a week-long summer program would be in August.
Swim programs can't happen in cold ocean water, but perhaps arrangements can be made to use a private pool - several offers were made from pool owners on the island

A first aid course would be great on the island - near the end of July - after fishing

Canada Day suggestions for the Recreation Centre:
Music
Food
Fireworks
Kids games
Something for seniors
Crafts displays
Dunk tank
Homemade wine tasting

v Action - Laura to send copies of these minutes and a copy of the survey results to Martha Farrar for the website.
