Above, Elizabeth Francis Adaire has appeared before an acting Justice of the Peace in Choctaw Co., Miss., and swears "on the holy evangelist of almighty God" that she is the wife of W. H. Adaire, Capt. of Co. E, 4th Regt. Miss. Vols., killed on the 6th day of June 1863, and that she is therefore entitled to what is due him from the Confederate States. She has brought with her a witness, Martha H. Ross (?) to vouch for her being the wife of the Captain, as is usually done in these cases. |
