According to the Mississippi Grave Registrations (Wiltshire), this soldier, born in Hinds Co., Miss., served in the 10 Miss. Inf., Co. F.

He enlisted aged 16 in Vicksburg on 21 Mar 1861 for 12 months. His rank was a Private. On 1 Jul 1861, he was promoted to a musician.

In the 9 Miss Inf, he was employed as a messenger in the quarter master's dept. 1 - 15  Feb 1861 at Vicksburg.

On 16 Dec 1861 at Pensacola, Fla., he reenlisted in the 9 Miss Reg, Co. E, this time for a period of two years.

He was marked deserted on 11 Dec 1862 but was paid that coming Feb 14 1863, so may have been captured, detained, home for Christmas, sick, or simply late returning to camp.
