Eatmon, E. C., b. 1835, La.; d. 1927; 14th La. Inf., Co. F; his service record cards on fold3.com are filed with E. C. Eastmon [Emerson C. Eastmon], but the name on the service record is also seen as Eatman, Eatmon, and Eatmond. He enlisted 19 Jun 1861, New Orleans, La. He was admitted to U.S.A. General Hospital in Baltimore for flesh wound from gunshot (from a “Rnd ball”) in both thighs; wound received 19 Sep 1864, Winchester, Va.; at that time, age 27. POW at Fort McHenry, Md., and transferred to Point Lookout Feb 1865. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, Va., 10 Apr 1865. He was 5’5” in height, gray eyes, dark hair, fair complexion, residing in Madison Parish, La. Engagements for which he was present: Yorktown, Williamsburg (wounded), Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Winchester No. 2, Gettysburg 2-3 Jul 1863 (wounded), Mine Run, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Pole Green Church, Mechanicsville, Monocacy, Snicker’s Gap, Kernstown, Shepherdstown, Smithfield, Winchester No. 3 (wounded and captured). fold3.com/image/271/75124565/ |
