Myles Standish Society

For the Standish Families and people interested in the families

We are now joining with many other pilgrim descendant families and starting a Standish Society. We are currently seeking people interested in a Standish Society whether they are descendants of Myles Standish, of another branch of the Standish family (from USA, England, Canada or elsewhere in the world) , or have an interest in the Standish family. The society’s purpose will be to preserve and perpetuate the history of Myles Standish and of the Standish family in general. We will be developing a rich photographic tapestry of the family which will include photographs of Standish descendants, gravesites, homesteads and places of notability for the families. Many people in the various Standish family branches have photographs of four, five or even six generations to share. We also want to dedicate a portion of our work for those brave Standish men and women who have spent time in military service keeping with the military tradition set forth by Myles Standish, America’s first Soldier. The society will hold annual or biennial reunions, family outings, as well as regular meetings for discussing society business. We have discussed possible locations for reunions, etc. and are considering the Myles Standish Monument in Duxbury, MA and the Myles Standish State Park in Plymouth County, MA and the Myles Standish Industrial Park in Taunton, MA. We are planning an informal meeting in Plymouth during the General Society of Mayflower Descendants Triennial, which will be in September.
