I have been advised that I do have something to share with this list.
It has everything to do with genealogy and a lot of history. This is my
husbands line. He is the son of Joseph William Lemin and Violet A.
Mansfield. Joseph is descended from the Cabell and their kin. Violet
is descended through the Bouldins and their kin, which includes some
Cabells and their kin.

I am putting this up for review and comment. I know very little about
the Early Virginian Tribes and clans. I am willing to learn. I
stumbled on this line while finding out some things for my father in law
about the stories his mother would tell him about his family. Most all
of the Cabell men in Granny 'Mins line were military men. All made some
mark in history.

Joseph William Lemin b. Nov. 27, 1922 Dallas, Texas d. Oct. 27, 2000 at
the age of 77 years and 11 months. He married Violet A. Mansfield, Sept.
13, 1947 in Dallas, Texas. He was the son of Richard Paul Lemin and
Shingo Marie Cabell.

Shingo was b. 1898 in Dallas, Texas and died 1974 in Hico, Hamilton Co.,
Texas. She was the daughter of John Joseph Cabell and Phoebe Ann Lee.

John Joseph was b. Nov. 28, 1870 in Ft. Smith, AR. d. after 1898 in
Dallas County, Texas. He was the son of Brg. Gen. William Lewis Cabell
and Harriet Amanda Rector.

William Lewis was b. 1827, Danville, Virginia d. 1911 Dallas, Texas
He was mayor, U.S.Marshall in Dallas. He was responsible for many
improvements to Dallas, Dallas County, and Texas. William was the son
of Benjamin W. S. Cabell and Sara (Sallie) Epps Doswell.

Benjamin (William Sheridan) was b. 1793 in Virginia d. 1862. He was the
son of Joseph Cabell and Pocahontas Rebecca Bolling, daughter of Robert
Bolling and Susannah Watson (many know this line by heart, but if you
need any info that I may have I will gladly try to help you)

Joseph Cabell, b. Sept. 8, 1732 Goochland Co., Virginia d. March 1, 1798
Zion Hill, Virginia. was the son of Joseph Cabell and Mary Hopkins. He
was the son of William Cabell (the founder) and Elizabeth Burks. Joseph
was married twice 1) Pocahontas Rebecca and 2) Anne Everard Bolling.
Anne had been married before to Shepard Duval. Between the two wives
Joseph had 12 children to survive to adulthood, but it is told that he
was responsible for fathering the impressive number of 39 children in
total. Alexander Browns "The Cabells and Their Kin list 20 that lived
over a year.

Now to the muddying of the waters, as my great Uncle Erroll Snodgrass
would say:

Elizabeth Burks b. 1705, Hanover Co., Virginia d. Sept. 21, 1756 was the
daughter of Samuel Burks Sr. and Mary Davis. Samuel was the founder of
the Burks family in Virginia.

Mary Davis b. abt 1682 in Albemarle County, Virginia d. 1756 same. At
this moment I have only two children listed for her and Samuel Burks. I
am positive there were more. She was the daughter of Nathaniel Davis
and Mary Hughes. Nathaniel was the founder of the Davis family in
Virginia, he came from Devonshire, England

Mary Hughes, was b. 1650 in Virginia the daughter of an unnamed Hughes
and Princess Nicketti. Mr. Hughes was not named for the marriage
between the two was clandestine. But he loved her kept her and her
daughter well.

This is the part that is up for target practice!! I got very confused
sometimes when was trying to sort it out.

What I have found and I shook it like a terrier with an old shoe till
this is what fell out. Princess Nicketti was the daughter of
Opecancanough 'Powhatan' and Princess Cleopatra. What I understand is
that Opecancanough is the brother of Wahunsonacock, Pocahontas' father.
Princess Cleopatra is listed as Pocahontas' sister.

Cleopatra and Pocahontas were sisters, Opecancanough is the brother of
Wahunsonacock. Uncle Opecancanough and niece Cleopatra were Princess
Nicketti's parents.......... Cleopatra and Pocahontas were the
daughters of Whanusonacock and one of his wives. I have Winansuke
Matatiske, he had dozens of wives I understand and it would be hard to
know who the mothers were.

Now here is a question? Wahunsonacock and Opecancanough were the sons
of Scent Flower ( I think everyone agrees on that for the most part). I
have found in several lists and articles that they were the sons of
Algonkian Chief Powhatan. Is Algonkian a clan of the Powhatans or the
other way around? And on this last FTW that looked at they name Scent
Flower's father as Dashing Stream and grandfather as Murmuring Ripple.
This is new to me. They have Scent Flower as born JUNE 3, 1517 and
Dashing Stream as being born in 1474. This time frame is right but
Columbus had not even stumbled upon the West Indies at this time. How
can the dates be proved out?? I know it had only come from mouth to
mouth by the Story Tellers and Elders. But they could not know a DATE!!

As you can plainly see I need help!! My husband is gullible and will
believe me if I told him that Adam and Eve came from Mars and started
this begetting all over the place..I want him and his daughter to have
as close to the truth as possible, so that when one of them in their
late life start wondering the daughter in law doesn't have to work quite
as hard to find the facts.
