Like
many young ladies of her time and class, Anne Davidson
wrote something in her Journal every day. This website
will allow you to read what she recorded each day 163 years ago,
as well as finding out something about the people she met, the places
she visited and the times she lived in. Her entries are
transcribed as written, including the spelling and punctuation.
Gertrude Robertson’s Memoir was written for her children, using journals as its basis and covers a much longer period in a shorter document. She lived in India, Great Britain and Europe and travelled widely, including to New York. This is also a verbatim transcript of her memoirs
