Coal Monument ~ Baxter, Harlan County, Kentucky
The sign in front of the monument reads BAXTER is located on old Highway 119, and as you can see, it sits in the middle of intersection. As you look at the photo of the monument, you will be on Highway 119. If you go straight ahead, that road will take you to Cumberland, Kentucky. Turning left at the Monument will allow you continue to follow 119 heading toward Pineville, Bell County, Kentucky.

This is the memorial in front of the Harlan Court House, Harlan, Kentucky. It's a dedication to all of the coal miners that lost their lives in the mines. It's a 2-sided memorial
