Kentucky Is My Home! 1812war30
RYLAND HEATH Son of ROBERT HEATH and ELIZABETH COOPER both of Currituck County, North Carolina was born 22 August 1781 in Currituck County, North Carolina. Ryland left home after his Father died in 1795, and his mother remarried two years later. He didn't get along with his Stepfather (Beasley). He went to Georgia, worked I think as a farm hand, and grew to manhood. He met and Married ANNA SIMMONS in Greene County, Georgia 05 January 1804. They had a son JESSE HEATH born 24 March 1806. I think Anna must have died during or after childbirth, because we don't hear anything else about her. Ryland then met and married ANNA MARIA GILBERT 26 April 1808. She was the daughter of BENJAMIN GILBERT and EMILY MCKENZIE.
They had three Sons born in Georgia. They then moved to what was Livingston County, Kentucky. Ryland bought land, and started the Heath Families vocation of Farming. He and Anna had nine Sons, one having died as a child, and three Daughters. Most stayed in different Counties of Kentucky, or in Weakley or Hardin, Tennessee. Ryland's youngest son, ENOCH H HEATH became a doctor. After residing at home, and being educated in the common Schools, began the study of medicine in 1858, under the direction of Dr Brazier at Weston, Kentucky. A year later he began taking Lectures at Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated as an M.D. From a medical institution in that city in 1860. He married ANNA HUGHS, born in Weston, Kentucky in 1841. Anna's Father was JOSEPH HUGHS.
In "Goodspeed, History of Tennessee, Weakley County" It states that Anna and Enoch had two children. By my 'Family History' they had five.
Ryland Heath, born 22 August 1781, died 18 June 1870, Marion, Crittenden County, Kentucky.
Anna Gilbert, born 25 March 1788, Georgia, died 25 June 1873, Marion, Crittenden County, Kentucky.
