Kentucky Is My Home! 1812war27
CHARLES PATTON, the son of WILLIAM PATTON, is believed to have been born in 1793 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. According to his record for bounty land (Wt.12006-160-55) and Mary Patton's (daughter of Alexander Rader) Parole Proof of Marriage for a pension as a Widow (Pension Records 11149 & 6449), Charles Patton served in the War of 1812 as a private in Captain Davis' Kentucky Militia from May 14, 1814 to July 9, 1814. He enlisted at Harrison County, Kentucky, and was discharged at Newport, Kentucky. His records also show that he served in Captain Seagram's Company of Kentucky Militia, however no dates of service are given. It appears that he may have re-enlisted in August 1814, but no ending date is given. During his Service with Captain Davis, Charles guarded prisoners captured at the Battle of the Thames. These prisoners of war were being held at Newport. According to an Affidavit in the record Charles lived in Oldham County until 1855. He moved his family to Louisville, where he died in June of 1858, and is buried at Cavehill Cemetery. He is my Great Great Great Grandfather.
