Samuel Henry Fox Wooldridge, BURIED DANVILLE CEMETERY, OLD DANVILLE, TEXAS

SAMUEL HENRY FOX WOOLDRIDGE

Buried Danville Cemetery

Willis, Texas

(Originally Danville, Texas)

Samuel Henry Fox Wooldridge was the son of Dr. Samuel Dunbar Wooldridge and Catherine Elizabeth McCan.

He was born in old Danville 4 September 1864 and died there at age three, 12 October 1867, the same date as his sister, Minnie Moss Wooldridge. The story passed down in the family is that the children were victims of yellow fever.

Samuel's father, Dr. Samuel Wooldridge, was captain of Company B, 24th Regiment, Texas Cavalry. He was sent home from the war due to illness, and little Samuel was conceived at a time when most men of the community were off fighting the war. Little Samuel was named for a Danville merchant who must have been a good family friend, German immigrant Samuel Fox.
