UNMARKED BURIALS

Danville Cemetery

Willis, Texas

(Originally Danville, Texas)

There are several unmarked gravesites in Danville Cemetery, and many more are suspected due to indentions in the ground and family lore. A recent (2016) ground penetrating radar project furnished us with the evidence of around 23 unmarked graves. Following are individuals reported by descendants to be buried in this cemetery:

Sarah Elizabeth (Lindley) Collard

Benjamin Fielding Irvine and wife,
Mary "Polly" (Belles/Bellesfelt) Irvine

Samuel Washington Lindley and wife, Elizabeth

James Adneil Reding
Robert Baker Reding (d. 1855)
John L. Conn and wife, Nancy (Reding) Conn

James B. Caperton (h/o Nancy Cannon Brooks)

John Spillers, d. 23 Oct 1846

Sarah Ann (George) Hall, w/o James Henry Hall
Mary Jane (Wester) Hall, w/o James Henry Hall
Sadie Hall, born and died 1890. A descendant
reports that Sadie was placed in the casket with
her mother, Mary Jane (Wester) Hall, who died in childbirth.
Sarah Jane "Sally" (Hall) Selman, d/o James Henry Hall
Darlene (Selman) Valdez, d/o Sarah Jane (Hall) Selman

Fred Dos(s)ey is listed as an Unmarked Burial in the book, "Unmarked Graves of Montgomery County Texas", p. 25. It says he was buried in Shepard Hill Cem. A relative reports that Fred was not Catholic and was probably buried in Danville Cemetery near two other Dossey burials.

John Lewis Smith

Sarah "Sally" Frances (Caperton) Inglet, 19 Dec 1851 - 16 Feb 1930, daughter of Nancy Cannon Brooks and James B. Caperton, wife of Sidney L. Inglet. This burial was identified by Karen Hett in the DAR application of Daphne Scott Cook, No. 466340.

Dr. John Wood and his wife, Lucy F. (Henderson) Wood
