John Butler Terrell was born on 28 Nov 1908 in Conroe, Montgomery Co., TX. He was the youngest of nine children born to William Peter Terrell (1861-1941) and Exeen Montgomery (1867-1952). John, or "J.B." as he was known to many, was raised in Conroe. He fell in love with Irma Louise Garrett , a pretty young woman who lived in nearby Willis. They were married on 10 Aug 1928. Shortly thereafter, the young family moved to Beaumont, TX where they had two more children; a daughter, Mildred Carolyn, b. 1935 and a son, John Butler Terrell, Jr. b. 1939.
J.B. was a banker and began his career as a clerk at the First National Bank of Beaumont in 1930. Later, he became a Vice President and Trust Officer of American National Bank, retiring in 19__.
J.B. loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a kind and gentle man; loved by all. John Butler Terrell died on 19 July 1989 in Beaumont and was buried in our family cemetery on Shepard Hill Rd. in Willis next to his in-laws, Alexander E. and Mary (Spiller) Garrett. His wife, Irma Louise, came to rest next to him in 1996.
