Minerva Angelia (or Angelina) Tabor was born on 29 Oct 1829 in Holmesville, Pike Co., MS, according to the Irvine Family Bible records. She was the daughter of Rev. Isaac Tabor and Susannah Bullock. After her family settled in Danville, Montgomery Co., TX, she met and married a neighbor, Peter Belles Irvine, on 23 Nov 1847 (Montgomery Co., TX Marriage Book, Vol. 4, Pg. 43). He was the son of Benjamin Fielding Irvine and Mary "Polly" Belles. Their marriage record states that they were married in the home of her father. Peter and Minerva had 6 or 7 children and the family is found on the census record in 1850 and 1860. Peter joined the Danville Riflemen at the beginning of the Civil War and was killed at the Battle of Arkansas Post on 11 Jan 1863.You may read the letter which Minerva's first husband, Peter B. Irvine, wrote to her during the Civil War.
Minerva remarried Augustus Richards on 28 Oct 1880. Augustus died 18 Nov 1913 and Minerva's death followed on 13 Aug 1915. I was recently told a family story about Minerva's death. She apparently had cut her leg on a fence and developed gangrene. She died during the operation to amputate this infected leg. She and her second husband, Augustus, are buried side by side. On the other side of Minerva rests two of her sons, Peter B. Irvine (Jr.) and William F. Irvine. A baby born to Minerva and first husband, Peter, is buried nearby with a field stone to mark the grave.
