Henry, Ezekiel: 1846 RO: Lone Oak to Sandy Creek.

Per Judy Henry:

Ezekiel Henry, the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Williams was born July 31, 1820 in Centerville Bibb Co., AL.  He graduated from University of Alabama in 1835 with a law degree and was a Representative to the Alabama General Assembly in 1841.

On July 8, 1841 he married Emily Eleanor Cleveland, daughter of  Oliver Cromwell and Martha Payne Cleveland, also of Centerville.

In 1843 Ezekiel Henry killed his cousin, Crocket G. Davis, in a dispute.  He fled with Emily and their six-month-old son, Patrick Clay Henry, to Montgomery Co., TX.  A year later, Emily, at the age of twenty, died there at Bennetts Prairie.  Before his death in 1847 Ezekiel worked as a deputy sheriff and served two terms as a county judge.

A letter in his probate record states:  'that the effects of the deceased citizen Ezekiel Henry are in the hands of Mrs. McIver, save a portion of his library, a careful & worthy lady at whose house the deceased, though choice, passed his last moments, and where at the death of his wife, he had placed his infant son with the property & effects of his departed wife.   Patrick, aged four, went to live with his mother's parents in Alabama.
