DECEMBER 12, 1899

Dear Santa Claus: Please send me a rubber tire trap, a drum, a lawn mower, opera glasses, a horn, ball, a boy doll, a box of soldiers. Send these for my little sister: A big doll, doll buggy, piano and stool, carpet sweeper, gloves and dishes. I live at No. 134 Hughes Circle.

Dallas, Tex., Dec. 11.--Dear Santa Claus: I am a little girl 9 years old. I've heard little children tell about you, but you never did come to see me and my little brother. Mama says he don't come to see poor people, but I see The Dallas News says he does, so I am going to write to you and see if there is a Santa Claus in Dallas. If you get my letter, please bring me a pair of shoes and a jacket, so I can go to school, and my brother a suit of clothes and some shoes, so he can go, too. I'd like to have a doll if you have got one to spare. I live at 129 Young street, Dallas.

Orphans Home, Tex., Dec. 13. --- Dear Santa Claus: We suppose you know that we expect the presents we ask for, or we would not ask for them. We are the two girls who have to see that twenty-three little girls clean up the Buckner orphans' home dining-room three times a day, and we do hope you know how it is to try to do anything without things to do with; and we would be very much obliged to you if you would, some time during Christmas visit us and bring one dozen brooms, three tin waiters, some plates, knives, forks and spoons, and anything else you think would be useful in any way.
