Comment: Three members of my family served in the 42nd. They were Nathaniel Green Carroll, Robert F. Carroll, and Dixon Carroll. Nathaniel was wounded at Stones River and died in 1864 form his wounds. Robert was wounded at Perryville but went on to live a long life. Dixon was the baby of the family and moved after the war to Spokane, WA hwere he is buried.
