Soldiers GAR Reunion
Princeton, IN

Picture from the Princeton Daily Clarion, Bicentennial Edition

Caption Reads: These men were Civil War veterans who got together for a reunion in Princeton at the Presbyterian Church.  The date, however, is not known.  Samuel Watt of Somerville is believed to be the man holding the little girl's hand.  Another Somerville man, John Cameron "Batt" Martin (42nd Web Author Note: John Cameron "Batt" Martin served in the 42nd Indiana, Co. F), is pictured kneeling in the center of the front row with the cane.  Martin ran away from home at an early age and joined the army during the Civil War.  He performed an act that saved a man's life - he put a wounded soldier on a horse - so the story goes.    end

Other Men Identified:

Back row, furthest left: Zadok McCleary (42nd Indiana, Co. F)

CAN ANYONE IDENTIFY ANY OTHER MEN IN THIS PICTURE?  ALSO, DOES ANYBODY KNOW FROM WHAT GAR POST THESE MEN BELONGED?
