The National and Regimental Flags of the 42nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry
The National and Regimental
Flags of the 42nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry
The following flag photographs were obtained from the Indiana
War Memorial Battle Flag Collection. The Indiana War Memorial has
flag photos of many of the Indiana Regiments that participated in
the Civil War. Proceeds from the sale of these photos are
returned to the Civil War Flag Fund. To find out more about
purchasing Civil War flag photos see: http://www.state.in.us/iwm/battleflags/
Note: Each Indiana regiment was initially issued one national
flag and one regimental flag. Some regiments were issued
additional flags, later on in the war. Because of this, there may
be more than one national and regimental flag photo available for
a particular regiment. Some of the flags are considerably worn
and torn and, in some cases, only a very small piece of the
original flag was available to photograph.
