An inscription of great lenght is written on a large flat red sandstone slate; it is placed horizontally on
four pillars and is over the grave of Rev Robert Breck, the second Minister of the Church in Marlborough
He was born Dec 7, 1682 and died Jan 6, 1731

MY COMMENT
The stone is now broken in half and is covered with paint which an attempt has been made to remove. This
beautifully inscribed stone should be restored to it’s original condition by Rev Brecks descendants

Near the grave of Rev Mr. Breck, a large unlettered stone, also supported on granite pillars, marks the
resting place of Rev. William Brimsmead, the first pastor of the church of Marlborough, from 1666 until his
death in 1701.
