Packard Family of Grafton
Samuel N. Packard shows up in Grafton census records in 1880. His
patents are shown as 1870. Its not known if he was living in Grafton at
that time period.
His son Joel was working with him in the Awl manufacturing business
as listed in census records. They are reported to have been making both
leather working tools & carpenter tools.
Joel was in the ice business as listed in 1900 & 1910 census.
Its not sure which lake was used for ice cutting.
Both Joel's kids were still at home in 1910 & 1910.Samuel does
not show up in census records for 1900 & 1910, so he likely died prior
to 1900!
The 1860 & 1870 census records for US do not seem to show either
men?
Based on a Sumner Packard being a member of a Grafton church
in 1870, as search was done on Sumner Packard. There was a Sumner Packard
in 1860 census for Brimfield MA as a manufacturer of Shoe tools. He had
a wife Emeline ( she fits) & a son Joel S. 14 ( fits) & daughter
Lusie B. 4.
Sumner nor Samuel nor "S" was not found in 1870 census for US?
There is a record of Emeline Roberts married Sumner Packard in Grafton
MA in 06 Apr 1836.
