HELP!

Various correspondents are looking for information on the following ghost towns in CALIFORNIA.  These are not listed on my main page for this state, nor do I have anything in my records on them.  Are you able to help?  If so please respond to me and I will forward the information on to those looking for the information.

IMPERIAL COUNTY GHOST TOWNS:  I am in process of putting the finishing touches on my Ghost Town Guru’s Guide to the Ghost Towns of Imperial County, CA.  AND Faded Dreams – Ghost Towns of the Salton Sea.  I still need some historical information and older photos.  IF you have any Imperial County information you’d like to share, please let me know.  See my listing of locations on a separate Imperial County Web Page.  I am aiming for a 2010 publication date.

DEMON’S CAMP:    I have traced my gr-gr grandfather, Lewis Feltnor to Ca. in 1852. I have learned that he and his wife settled in Demons Camp. While Lewis looked for gold, his wife - Lodeiska Robinson Feltnor, ran a hotel.  Can anyone help me with the location of Demons Camp?

LAURIE:             “I am trying to locate a community called, Laurie, CA.  I believe this to be around the foothills of the Sierras - perhaps a gold mining area.  (One of my) ancestors (was) born in Laurie, CA.  His grandmother died about the time he was born and is buried in Laurie, CA.”

STURGEON:              “Is there any information on the old town of Sturgeon in western Merced Co.?”

UNKNOWN:              “I am desperate to find a ghost town that I visited back in the mid-70s when I was in grade school on a field trip with my class.  It was in or near Los Angeles County and was suddenly abandoned around the turn of the last century.  It was so sudden that there were still plates of food left on the tables and homes full of personal belongings.  What made it even more mysterious is that there were no signs of struggle or any other possible factors that made them leave so suddenly.  Do you know what this place is?  I am so desperate to find it!”

(GARY’s NOTE:  UNLESS someone can PROVE otherwise, I consider this an urban legend, as I also have heard these rumors over the years, but I have never been able to verify it. This query is being posted to get folks to thinking.  IF they are aware of this location, please contact me. If it truly does exist, please provide appropriate documentation and verifiable photos. If it is proven to exist, I will not post its physical location on my web pages, but will provide the appropriate proof. One way or another, I would love to either prove or disprove this urban legend once and for all.)
