" Married Ellen Discharged Sydney 31st December 1835 who
marries Ellen or Elleanor Leonard in 1838 near Penrith even
though they had children on the wrong side so to spaeak. She was a
convict who had served her time and probably they got married
without permission of his C.O. If they had wanted to get married
before she served her time the Governor had to give his
permission. He probably wouldn't have been granted permission so they
have done it surreptiously. Ther is no mention of his trade when
he his married. He was one of the 17th who was transferred to the
Mounted Police in 1830 and rose to the rnk of Sergeant in that
corps. He was then stationed in Campelltown and was demoted for
stabling a private horse in the Mounted Police barracks without
permission. He transferred to the 99th regiment in 1848 and
took his discharge. He died at the Asylum in Liverpool in
1860 he was flat broke.
