[This date from the INMAN Family Memorandum Book of which I have a copy. Alfred H Inman in his 70+ page INMAN Appendix to Harry Speight's "Nidderdale" (1906), suggests that the baptism probably took place at Middlesmoor.]

"YORKE COUNTRY", by Anne Ashley Cooper, published 1988.
It is recorded on page 113 of this book, that in 1678, Dame Mary YORKE granted Bewerley Chapel and the Chapel yard for the use of a Schoolhouse, as the only other school in the whole of Niddedale was a small private one at Dacre. Among the trustees for this school at Bewerley, was Christopher LOWSON. [Yorke Records, 1085].

ParcevallHall NB. Parcivell or Parcevall Hall, Nidderdale - was left by John YORKE of Gouthwaite in 1637/38 to his then tenant George DEMAINE, (who is described as "of Parcivall Hall" in 1646/7), and his heirs for ever, subject to a payment of £300. Elizabeth, daughter of George DEMAINE, married 1660/61, Christopher LOWSON, who lived at the Hall, parish of Burnsall, and whose descendants eventually sold it.

1695....... "At Stean, Christopher LOWSON (1695) had 163 Scotch sheep and forty-five cattle, both the largest flock and the largest herd recorded in Upper Nidderdale at this period. They were valued at £37 and £91 10s respectively………………………The references to Scotch sheep in the inventories of Lowson and others are the first information about sheep breeds found in the inventories."
