The Dyersville Area Historical Society is devoted to conserving the history of the Dyersville area and of its people. It operates a genealogical library consisting of 22,000 obituaries dating from 1900 to the present. Anyone interested in searching for family information is welcome. Hours are 10 am - 4 pm on Mondays and Thursdays. There is no admission fee. Memberships are available $ 5.00/year. Members are entitled to free admission to the Dyer-Botsford Historical House and Doll Museum.
The Dyer-Botsford Historical House and Doll Museum is located at 331 1st Ave in Dyersville. The 2-story, 16-room house was built in 1850 by James Dyer, the founder of Dyersville, in what was to become the city of Dyersville. The Dyersville Area Historical Society acquired the house in 1988 and has completely restored it. It features Victorian architecture and furnishings. It now houses a collection of 1000 dolls, a hand - carved circus display, a rare feather Christmas tree, artifacts significant to past Dyersville history and much more.
