Photos of Old Engines & RR accidents ( most are
likely copies and may have been seen before). There were a collection of
a Springfield,MA prof. photographer that died in 1960s. As there are more
to be scanned, abt. 10 RR & 25 Trolley, it may be linked to another

Rail Road Engine,
Berkshire-The Boston and Albany Railroad. "On the 1st day
of October, 1839, the road was opened to travel between Worcester and Springfield,
and, on the 23d of that month, regular merchandise trains Early in 1842
the whole line was completed through to Hudson river, with the exception
of fifteen miles within the State of New York, which was run on the track
of the Hudson and Berkshire railroad from the State line to Albany."

First of all, KCRR stands for the Kennebec Central Railroad, a Maine
2-foot gauge road running from Randolph (across from Gardiner on the Kennebec
River) to the Old Soldiers Home at Togus.
Secondly, your first KCRR picture is a beautiful
picture of KC #4, formerly Sandy River RR #5 and SR&RL #6 and later
to become Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington #9. This engine still
exists today at the WW&F Railway Museum (http://lincoln.midcoast.com/~wwfry)
and will soon be undergoing restoration to operating condition. I am the
webmaster for the Museum, and would very much like your permission to use
that picture on our site in my efforts to tell the story of the engine.

No 111 was built by the New York Locomotive
Works in Feb 1890- scrapped 10/31/35. A single cab 2-6-0 with 62 in drivers,
19x24 in cylinders, wt 129000 lbs. boiler pressure 175psi, 20,800 lbs tractive
effort.. Class M
Photo may have been taken at Pennellville,
NY in spring of 1903. I have a similar photo but with different

Rail Road Engine "RI"in
Rail Yard-Rhode Island was a Locomotive Builder! It was merged
into ALCO (errrr American Locomotive Co). It is a builder's photo. Each
loco builder took a a picture of either each loco or one photo of a class
of engines. From the builders records it says the following: RI c/n 2808
built 12/1892 Central Mexicano #150 (We call this RR, the Mexico Central
#150) a double Bogie Coupling.
Note, my ggGrandfather BARKWILL worked & was killed between cars
in the Cleveland yard of PRR in 1864! My good fortune was for him to have
a child already in his wifes belly! I have records of the news clipping
and court hearing. I am looking for photos of freigh cars or engines of
theirs in that period. His brother ran an oil business that came from the
