Dutch The Great Communicator United States, POTUS 40
President Ronald Reagan died 5 Jun 2004, æ 93y,
on the day before the 60th anniversary of D-Day.
He will be remembered chiefly as the architect of the collapse
of the Soviet Union and the end of fifty years of so-called Cold War,
which he accomplished without firing a shot.
Ronald Reagan believed the United States would not win the Cold War as long
as Moscow believed it would win.
He pushed the Soviets to help them understand that, for them,
the Cold War was not a winning proposition
and that they were wrong to think that they could fight forever and
that their adversaries could not.
Reagan assumed [his] nation's highest position of trust late in [life, and]
finally saw his view vindicated.
[Morton B. Zuckerman, U.S.News & World Report, 130:13 (April 2, 2001), p.63]
In 1994, his mostly-estranged daughter, Patti Davis, ?
who had written a spiteful book about her famous parents,
posed nude for a Playboy centerfold and video.
