HARRISON, Caroline Lavinia [1832-1892] -- FLOTUS
Contents: |
née SCOTT, Caroline Lavinia
FLOTUS (of Benjamin Harrison)
She renovated the White House from attic to basement, installing electric lights, new heating, and putting in several bathrooms where there was previously only one. She started the White House china collection from pieces she found stored in various closets.
She was, I believe, the only First Lady to die
in the White House (of tuberculosis).
