COCHRANE DISTRICT CEMETERIES

Constance Lake Reserve

It is said that the native tradition of burial was to hang the skeletal remains in the trees.  Once the deceased's name was no longer spoken of, the remains were taken down and that person's spirit was released.  It has only been in the past generation or so that the practice of erecting monuments has taken place.
