Isis myth

Isis myth

The theme is about Isis as the one of two goddesses of the age. The myth is told in songs from the pyramids. The myths are about resurrection and fertility as always. Age of Rituals is mainly the time before Scandinavian Bronze Age

Follow Gyr at Evenstorp

Middle part of the ritual calendar at Evenstorp.

The figures interpret the zodiac and the moon suite and most of what we may understand of the message in this carving. It gives a complete picture of the ancient ritual year. To me it is of course the real thing.

It stands for the ultimate World Heritage and gives the Stone Age intellectual status. In this picture is their world-order, although much of it is behind the lines.

Old customs

"Oh yeah, those times when you only had to take your club and go out and knock down a woman and draw her home by a grip in her hair.

I remember the voice out of dark in the gym in early fifties. We were together at the gym looking at a movie made to tell about our parish from the very beginning on. A pair inspired the Big Mouth. They were clothed to be like Stone Age people. She had only a long hair and we boys tried to see if not through it then behind it.

The couple and a man with a boar walked between the hills in our wildest landscape. A small bog with open water and a field of black soil were between the hills. A pair of long barrows with passage graves lay in the middle of the field. On the hills around two pairs of burial mounds of Bronze Age were watching it all. I wonder how the moviemaker knew that they had a Boar-man in the very old days?

We boys tasted and chew the words of the Big Mouth for a while until we get tired. In the fifties one might sometimes see some jokes on the theme in cartoons. Television came and with it the Flintstone family and the unspoken question "Were the Stone Age people more like us?

The happening took place a few years after World War II on Zealand, Denmark where I spent my childhood from 1942 to 1952. I do not know how it was in the thirties. I believe that war made people look for their roots and they became aware of their country and customs. Only a few years after fifth of May 1945 they forgot all this. Folk got cars and tractors. You never saw two farmers give their horses five and take time to discuss the latest news with a neighbour. They hardly waved their hands in a Hello.

Nevertheless, during wartime the old customs were in use. Especially, I remember the time about Lent. We children had our festivity and we knocked the cat out of the barrel. The barrel hung just out of reach. They arranged us in pairs and each of us got our turn to knock on it until the last piece of barrel fell down. Usually they filled it with sweets and small things so there was some war about these when the bottom fell down. However, we had to go on to that the last peace fell. They then crowned the pair who got it down as King Cat and Queen of the night.

The right lower corner in east. Crossed circles may as well be footprints. It means, "Go" and the strokes on the boat give the scale for dividing the square of the sky.

The cup-marks are possibly stars or were in use when doing the spring offer. A ritual port or gate is also found in Egypt and known in Christianity as the small one.

Older youngsters from fourteen and up had their Lent suite. They formed a suite of many wagons in a row. First in the suite rode a pair of fore-riders or the bridegrooms at horseback. On our farm we had a charabanc and borrowed it for the Bride of Spring and her company in the suite.

Manes and tails of the horses had been comb out and made in braids. They had decorated the bridle and harness with paper-rosettes and other mountings. On drivers seat the driver and the co-driver or those who got the two together. On the seats behind the drivers sat the Bride and her becoming mate and two bridesmaids. They went from farmyard to farmyard "asking" for gifts to the pair.

This custom was often used at real weddings and then they decorated the bride's farmyard with green leafs. In front gate a portal made of green leaves was set up.

This is Ramadan with the moon suite and synchronisation with the solar year.

RV1.161.13: Oh R.bhus! you were asleep; thereafter ask Agohya, who is it that woke us up. The He-goat replied, 'the hound (s'va_nam) is the awakener'. As the year is passed, today you declare the same.

"The spirits of the seasons stop work for 12 days and go to sleep at Ramadan (intercalated for a lunar year). This period belongs neither to the old nor to the new year."

Firstly Rbhus is the He-goat and the dog has the name Rahu and is the falling node of the moon that later became "head of Dragon". His "brother" is Ketu is the rising node "tail of Dragon". We see the dogs in Sumerian and Egyptian symbolism at the half year gates. The excavating at Gobekli Tepe, Syria shows that there is a dog animal in relief on some pillars. That means the moon calendars could be at least 11000 to 9000 years old

But let us continue with the evidence from Indus and Evenstorp. After two years and a half, the 366 days in the year contained an error of 3/4 day in each year. That means they must insert a month every second or third year. Furthermore to be correct there is an error of3/4 of a day to be kept in memory for 40 years and gather it to an intercalated month.

RV 2.12.11: He, who discovered S'ambara dwelling in the mountains for forty years; who slew Ahi, growing in strength, and the sleeping son of Danu; he, men, is Indra.

In the rock-carvings we see the 12+ 1 brothers connected to the circle's symbolism of three season of the year called Rbhus after the first season and the others called Vibhva and Vaja. The He-goat symbolised the first season and later we get the Goatfish as symbol of the rain period when people live on goat, fish and sheep and stay in shelter. Have you ever seen the rain during the monsoon raining heavily for weeks without end? The ritual symbolism was showing what man should do during the seasons.

The circle with the hook is the new year and the time boat beneath counts days for the synchronising in the Dog or maybe in the Fox since the Sumerian tells about the fox Kiel that taught people things as for instance storing food. Those memories go very long back and we should remember that the Dog is maybe only around 12000 years old as man's best friend.

Efven, the leader advises Gyr and her suite. In English perhaps Her or the Maid.

I have also found that some centuries ago they had same customs in the Nordal County as in my childhood. It was custom that the bride and mate went to the neighbourhoods asking for gifts to the new home. The bride asked for the house and her mate asked for things to the farmyard. Those who gave something were welcome to the bride train from her home and to the new home and to the wedding of course.

But customs were slightly different in the Sundal County. Their parents made the couple and it was more like a deal. Her parents gave her a home gift and the bridegroom gave some small gifts to her parents.

The early round in sky

My generation know about Aryans and the black-headed chief-Aryan Hitler ... next generation may find it hard to believe that such absurd ideology could exist without resistance from people. Now we know that the Aryan ideology could exist because of lack of knowledge and media like TV. During my three years under occupation I saw some supposed Aryans and I am almost sure I have heard that screaming little man with a moustache live from radio. I also know that it was a deadly serious time.

The real Giant with his suite on the night skies.

I found many anachronisms in that ideology and in what historians and archaeologists have told about the Aryans. Aryans should be blue- eyed and blond in skin and hair. How come that people in India are reddish brown and has raven-black hair? The historians tell us that Aryans gave birth to the folks and culture of the India we know?

Another anachronism is of course that the Finns are not supposed to be Aryans. Still, in Savolax you may see more blondes than everywhere else. The Finns were good enough to be brothers in armour against the Russians too, in spite of the fact they where not Aryans? I find many anachronisms to laugh at, but we all know that it was deadly serious business those days.

They point out Koshab either as polestar or as the star in the corner

At Rock 1 Haugsbyn we see Little Bear and star Koshab is marked with a crossed square that should mean, "use this" as polestar. That would have fitted around 2000 BC. I found it was very useful for the time span I was studying. The head of the big figure seems to be Little Bear and the body is Big Bear with a foot in Regulus in Leo that maybe have been fix star for the rising node. They often mention Thuban in Dragon as polestar. That would have fitted around 3100 BC.

The original myth of agriculture on the ecliptic starts at Sumerian Utu or Roman Janus, which are nowadays Geminis.

The summer suite or round begins with down to Underworld Cancer/Crab and Water- snake. Leader is Leo and real agriculture starts at Crater, an icon of watering and then Raven or two or three pick axes.

The asterism Virgo with Spica or the ear is incarnation of the new moon goddess carrying the seed. At her side Arcturus set to watch her child. They think the Child Germ to sail in Water-snake or on the River of Underworld. Libra is an icon of scaling "grow or not". She was called Mid-wife later. Scorpio is third of the goddesses of childbirth. She is the one who cut the navel string and icon of harvest too. To her help is the Man "He, who knocks well" and the other man Opiuchos carrying Serpent, an icon of harvest ... the Devil in later Christianity. Crops may be stored in the Urn above the head of Serpent.

If we try to explain the names of gods and idols many of the syllable tell about an idol with special skills or attribute. If we want to make them general it is a better way than use their local names.

Watergate was an icon of inundation in Egypt. On the other side the Goatfish, Capricorn is an icon of living on goat and fish in old days.

Those historians tied to genetics were sure that the Aryans had conquered the world about 2000 BC. That means that when we look at images of Evenstorp we should ask were the people behind Aryans? Had they killed most of the people in their way like Hitler did?

It seems like a silly question because the evidence speaks for continuous culture. Mission seems more likely to be the message than conquest. We may see that the mission originates from huge cultures with agriculture ... and not from warriors. The cist culture had of course the dagger as a ritual weapon, but that originates from the dagger of early Isis.

The coincidence was the rise of urban cultures in Anatolia and the Aegean world, which I call the Ionic culture. Most of Europe is a branch.

The summer zodiac model 2300 BC from Perseus the Engender to the Urn and the sickle. It is the same suite of the zodiac as in the earlier figure.

I cannot see that genetics is a serious factor of history. Genetics is synonymous with biological roots. However, there is no evidence that likeliness in culture is caused by biological heritage. It is more likely to be a consequence of influence. People have rituals and believe in common by influence not only from their own land, but also from other cultures. Nowadays we are influenced by the Americans though the genetics are far away.

Customs are more often bound to the local reminds and finds than to people. An example is Turkey. We know that the Turkmen once moved in. However, the old parts of the customs we see nowadays are heritage from much older culture of the Hittites and others. They should burn the genetic theories, because history and we are mostly a product of what our surroundings give us. Each generation has to explore its own history.

Geometric model for making a quadratic zodiac to a circular. The Hook is an icon of harvest and also hooking the moon year. The boat from fig. 02 fits into this quadrature of the sky and the hook is seen at the end of the Water-snake ... see above.

Winter half year.

This chapter is referring to our heritage from Egypt and the underlying myths' ...

To understand better the myths are here some text from the pyramids. They are only a few centuries older than the carving at Evenstorp

Songs from the pyramids 2500 BC

.

It is she, Isis, the just, who protects her brother,

Who seeks him without wearying,

Who in mourning traverses the whole land

Without respite before finding him,

Who gives shade with her feathers,

And wind with her wings.

It is she who praises her brother,

Who relieves the weakness of him who is tired,

Who receives his seed and gives birth to his heir,

Who nurtures the child in solitude,

Without anyone knowing where she is.

.

Osiris! You went away, but you have retutned,

you fell asleep, but you have awakened,

you died, but you live again

.

This is Horus (time and rising corn) speaking,

he has ordained action for his father,

he has shown himself master of the storm

he has countered the blustering of Seth

so that he, Seth, must bear you for it is

he that must carry him, who is again complete.

.

Ah Helpless One!

Ah Helpless One asleep!

Ah Helpless One in this place

Which you know not - yet I know it!

Behold I have found you (lying) on your side the great Listless One.

.

'Ah, Sister!' says Isis to Nephthys,

'This is our brother,

Come let us lift up his

Come, let us (rejoin) his bones,

Come, let us reassemble his limbs,

Come, let us put an end to all his woe,

that, as far as we can help, he will weary no more.

May the moisture begin to mount for this spirit!

May the canals be filled through you!

May the names of the rivers be created through you!

.

Osiris, live!

Osiris, let the great Listless One arise!

I am Isis.'

I am Nephthys.

.

It shall be that Horus will avenge you,

It shall be that Thoth (the moon) will protect you

your two sons of the Great White Crown

It shall be that the Company will hear.

Then will your power be visible in the sky

and you will cause havoc among the (hostile) gods, for Horus, your son,

has seized the Great White Crown,

seizing it from him who acted against you.

Then will your father Atum call "Come"

.

Osiris, live! . . .

I am the plant of life

which comes forth from Osiris,

which grows upon the ribs Of Osiris,

which allows the people to live,

which makes the gods divine,

which spiritualises the spirits,

which sustains the masters of wealth

and the masters of substance,

which makes the PAK- cakes for the spirits,

which enlivens the limbs of the living.

.

I live as corn, the life of the living,

I live upon the rib of Geb (the God of Earth),

but the love of me is in the sky,

on earth, on the water and in the fields.

Now Isis is content for her son Horus, her god,

she is jubilant in him, Horus her god,

I am life appearing from Osiris

.

Osiris is Unas in the mounting chaff.

He has not entered Geb to perish.

He is not sleeping in his house upon earth

So that his bones may be broken...

Unas is up and away to heaven

With the wind, with the wind!

.

Horus have seized Seth,

he has put him beneath you

so that he can lift you up.

He will groan beneath you as an earthquake

... Horus have made you recognize him

in his real nature,

let him not escape you

he has made you hold him by your hand,

let him not get away from you

.

Behold now, Isis speaketh,

Come to thy house, oh An [Sun god as risen Osiris]

Come to thy house for enemies are not!

Behold the excellent sistrum-bearer

come to thy house!

Lo, I thy sister, love thee -

do not thou depart from me!

Behold Hunnu [name of the sun god],

the beautiful one!

Come to thy house immediately

come to thy temple immediately!

Behold thou my heart,

which grieveth for thee;

Behold me seeking for thee -

I am searching for thee to behold thee

Lo, I am prevented from beholding thee -

I am prevented from beholding thee, oh An! ...

I love thee more than all the earth -

And thou lovest not another as thou dost thy sister!

.

Behold now, Nephthys speaketh, -

Behold the excellent sistrum-bearer!

Come to thy house!

Cause thy heart to rejoice, for thy enemies are not!

All thy sister-goddesses are at thy side

and behind thy couch,

calling upon thee with weeping

yet thou artprostrate upon thy bed!

Hearken unto the beautiful words uttered by us

and by every noble one among us!

Subdue thou every sorrow

which is in the hearts of us thy sisters,

.

Oh thou strong one among the gods,

strong among men who behold thee!

We come before thee, oh prince, our lord;

Turn thou not away thy face before us;

Sweeten our hearts when we behold thee, oh prince!

Beautify our hearts when we behold thee!

.

Most of the poems are from Baring & Cashford "The myth of the Goddess" as well as the Sumerian ones' in next chapter. In the later are a lot interpreted also by Samuel N. Kramer. In common they are as near as possibly from the sources. The poems are of course only virtual images of what the authors have learned by decades of studies.

In particular the time before 1500 BC is supposed to be the time of gods and man as their legs. That means that everything was done in the name of gods and that gives a different language from ours.

The interpreting of the Law mirrors the shortness of the texts in the Northern carvings. There is no doubt that every little sign had a meaning as syllable, word, icon or ideogram. Comparing those to other carvings and to what we in common know about languages and culture at that time make it possible to create an image of rituals an laws of that time.

Plutharch about Isis

Plutharch a Greek biographer lived ca 50 - 125 AD and in a time when Isis still was alive so to speak. He may tell what the late Isis is about:

"Isis, is in fact, the female principle of Nature. She is receptive of every form of generation. Plato called her the gentle nurse and the all-receptive. Most people countless names have called her. Since, because of the force of Reason, she turns herself to this thing or that and is receptive of all manners of shapes and forms.

She has an innate love for the first and most dominants of all things, which is identical with the good. This she yearns for and pursues, but the portion, which comes from evil; she tries to avoid and rejects. She serves them both as a place and means of growth, but inclines always towards the better.

Thus she offers to it opportunity to create from her and to impregnate her with affluxes and likenesses in which she rejoices. She is glad that they make her pregnant and teeming with these creations. For creation is the image of being in matter, and the thing created is a picture of reality."

When we read the poems and stories about Isis forgetting she is an idol and a virtual imagination is easy. She reflects the Egyptian woman at her best. Maybe we also forget that her main aspect is Sirius a star and her mate Osiris is Orion.
