The two-story Trenton school located on North Miami Street was completed in 1866 to serve the growing community. Originally the building consisted of two rooms, but was later enlarged (1880) to accomodate two more rooms. The German language was taught in the school for six months of every year due to the number of German families in the area. The high school grades were introduced at the school and the first class graduated in 1892.
In 1907, the state advised the community to construct a larger school. The 1866 building was then demolished. The new building included fourteen rooms including a library and auditorium.
