Jawbone Cemetery is located in Burr, Texas. Coming from Wharton, Texas on 1301 take a right on Co Rd 123, then a left on Co Rd 155, it is about a half a mile down on the right. This cemetery is right on Jawbone Creek and is very peaceful, however many of the graves are being swallowed by the ground because the soil is so full of moisture. This cemetery needs alot of work on it before many of the headstones are gone. There are also headstones in the brushy area where they do not mow anymore. There is one area to the far right of the cemetery that has several graves but no markers there anymore. These Photos were taken by Janet Barrett Hobizal on 1/29/2007 and are her property. If you would like copies please send me an e-mail and I will be happy to send you a copy.
Thank you to Michael Hobizal for being my guide.
