S.M. Rowe was appointed on December 9, 1878; elected November 2, 1880 and served until December 1880. There are no entries for the November 2 election so it is assumed he was elected, then left office as Blytewood was appointed in December. No. 713 in the Criminal Courts of Wharton County a S.M. Rowe was charged with hog theft on 12/15/1875 and he was aquitted. No. 1150 in the Criminal Courts of Wharton County S.M. Rowe was charged with murder on 06/10/1884. This trial went before a jury and he was found "not guilty".
