DEATH OF R.H. LEE

Yesterday morning at his
home in Houston occurred the
death of Richard Henry Lee, a
former citizen of Wharton and
at one time county attorney, an
office he filled both before and
after the organization of the
White Man's Union. Deceased
was the step-father of Post-
master T.J. Abell, and is sur-
vived by his widow and one
daughter by a former wife, Mrs.
Fred Harris of New Willard,
Texas.

Mr. Lee was reared in this
county and in early manhood
was admitted to the bar, and
for a number of years practiced
in the courts of this part of the
state. He has been residing in
Houston for several years past,
but owing to an asthmatic
trouble has not of late years
been able to practice his pro-
fession. His death occured
quite suddenly at 2:00 o'clock
yesterday morning, presumably
from failure of the heart while
he slept, for his wife waking at
about this hour found him dead,
though he had not been feeling
unusually ill the evening before.

The remains were brought
to this city for interment, and
the funeral occured from the
Southern Pacific depot at noon
today. Rev. Dale of the First
Baptist Church conducted the
services at the grave.
