DOCTOR DANIEL PACE REDWINE

"Highly Esteemed and Loved Physician Passed Away Thursday"

After lingering on the borderland for many days, Dr.Daniel Page Redwine passed away at his home, on last Thursday, November 5th, 1925.

In 1898, when El Campo was a scattered village of some five hundred people, with two general and several smaller stores of varied sorts, Dr. Redwine settled here and began the practice of medicine.

Through all these years since then he has traveled over the prairie and through the mud and slush, through heat and cold, to minister to the needs of the sick and suffering, over a wide territory.

Dr.Redwine was born at Leslie, Arkansas, on the eighteenth of January, 1859, was graduated at the Kentucky Medical College, Louisville, Kentucky, and began the practice of medicine at the place of his birth in the year 1883, so he came here with some years experience. He has enjoyed a large practice for many years. He was a close student and kept abreast of the progress in his profession.

As a practitioner, he was eminently successful, and was greatly loved in the homes of his patients.

Dr.Redwine was a successful business man, a director of the First National Bank, and the Rice Mill, in each of which he was a stockholder.

In 1887 he was married to Miss Ella Freedman, who survives him with the following children: Mrs. E.F. Earl, Mrs.Leo Richardson, Mrs. T.E. Melcher, Roy, Elmer, Earl, Harry, Lola and Mary Ella, all of El Campo.

In 1908 Dr.Redwine joined the Presbyterian Church, and in 1922, he was ordained an Elder, where his council and advice were greatly valued.

More than a year ago he went to the hospital, critically ill, and after being patched up, returned home. For these months, he has faced the certainty of a speedy end of his earthly life; yet with quiet composure he went about his work, with no complaint.

It can be truthfully said that as a physician, as a man, and as a Christian, he was greatly beloved by many and highly respected by all.
