John Phillip GOODWIN - (1924-1997)
- Accounts of 20 year old "Uncle John" as a pilot of a C-47 transport plane in WWII. After being shot down and wounded over
the English Channel on the second day of D-day, June 7, 1944 (see newspaper clippings on first page), he later returned to duty
and continued to fly missions towing gliders, dropping paratroopers and delivering supplies to the battle fields as documented in an
article in Blue Book magazine written by his co-pilot C. Donald Wire covering the August 1944 southern France landing. Click
