AMERICAN CROSSROADS Isaac (The Quaker)Pennington's Ancestry This Chart represents Isaac Pennington's ancestry (and others who weren't of his friendly persuation)

As shown  in the chart, (obtained from the Delaware Archives) Isaac the Quaker  was the son of Sir Isaac Pennington, who was an Alderman (1638-1657),  High Sheriff (1638), and  Lord Mayor of London in 1642 and 1643.  He was knighted in 1649.    Sir Isaac served in both the Short and Long  Parliaments, and was of that unfortunate assemblage that decided to lop off Charles I's head, although to Sir Isaac's credit, he did not vote in favor of the lopping.  The elder Isaac fell on hard times financially in the 1650's, and much harder times ensued when Charles II was reinstated to the monarchy, and set about settling the score with the Parliamentary regicides who had killed his father.   Although Sir Isaac had not signed the death warrant, and pleaded "not guilty," he was nonetheless imprisoned in the Tower of London, where he died in 1660.

The Regicides  "in their own write."   Note O. Cromwell  at left.

As shown in the Pedigree above, three brothers , Richard Thomas and William Pennington, comprise this generation. All died before 1600. The Compiler of the chart, Joseph Foster, of St. Johns Wood, London seems to be stating that these three are descendants of the Penningtons buried at Henham (County Essex, before 1557.   It is very difficult to distinguish this writer's b's for Born and d's for Died, but the following is my interpretation:

1. Richard died before 1592, leaving sons Robert, Thomas and Richard, and a daughter, Agnes.

2. Thomas, who married Margaret (____), was of Tottenham High Cross, Middlesex, and London, was buried in 1594. He and Margaret had a son Thomas who married Joane (___). Thomas died 1665/6. He and Joane had sons Thomas and Richard, and six daughters who were all living in 1695. (This seems to be stretching it a bit -- but, Oh Well...)

3. WILLIAM, of London, who married Alice (____), was buried 11-11-1592. William and Alice had:   [CMM NOTE:  There are four unnamed daughters on the chart, but five children unnamed in the order.  Perhaps the daughters lived to maturity and there was a fifth child, sex unknown, who did not.]
(A.) Jacob who married Agnes (____)
