There is not known to have been in Charlotte Co/Lunenburg Co., VA area in 1820 a John Lee other than John Lee Jr. son of John Lee Senr Sen d. 1805 in Charlotte Co., VA near the Lunenburg County line. John Lee Senr's will named a son John Lee.

Page 1 of letter written by Edward Lee Jr shows "our old uncle John Lee " was in Tenn in 1845.

Bible record shows John Lee & Frances had 10 children: 2 sons and 5 daughters

The following censuses pretty well progress in agreement.

Previous marriage records show Frances was nee Terry.  M.b. dated
7 Sep 1807 Lazarus Webb (jr?) & Fanny Terry, ward of Lazarus Webb,
Sur. Singleton Foster, married 8 Sep by Rev. Richard Dabbs, Jr.
See will of 1st husb. Lazarus Webb (s/o Thomas) 1808
No known child by Lazarus Webb unless she was with child when he died

John Lea
"...land on which I now reside"...in Williamson and Marshall
Counties ... adjoining M. R. Hughes, Margret Wilson, John H. Floyd, T.
H. Fagan and A. H. Clardy's heirs ... shall be sold, and all personal
property except Negro man, Bob.
Balance of slaves - Sarah, Margret, Caroline, Tennessee, Albert and
Susan - their value taken into account - be allotted to children Jane
Mannion, Rebecca Lea, Sarah Marler, and William T. Lea.
Extra money be given to William T. Lea and Rebecca Lea for "their
labor and services" after age twenty-one. Estate then be equally
divided between "my five children: Ann Lea, Jane Mannion, Rebecca Lea,
Sarah Marler and William T. Lea."

Marshall Co., TN Tax Records 1839-1841 show John Lee taxed with 78
acres in District #8.

I don't know if this could be the "Sarah Marler" in the will.
