E. Ruth Miracle

E. Ruth Miracle, 80, of 317 Devon Road, Woodsfield, Ohio, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va. She was born at Rinard Mills, Ohio on Dec. 24, 1926, a daughter of the late Floyd and Jessie Joy Rinard.  She was a former sales representative for Stanley Home Products and was a former aide in the activities department at the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Woodsfield, Ohio and founder of the Happy Hearts Singers in Monroe County, Ohio; a member of the Order of Eastern Star Clarington Chapter 533, Clarington, Ohio and a member of the Pythian Sisters, Lydia Chapter, Woodsfield, Ohio. She enjoyed crafting (sea shells), going to flea markets and playing cards.

In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Jane Matthews.

Surviving are three sons: Mark (Rose) Miracle of Clarington, Ohio; Michael (Lynn) Miracle of Shadyside, Ohio and Mitchell Miracle and fiance, Janet Corey of Wheeling, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; Mark Alan Miracle, Scott Andrew Miracle, Tristin Miracle, Tiffany Miracle, Leah Miracle, Molly Miracle and Colleen Miracle; one step great-granddaughter: Sofia Lupi.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Susan Lehosky officiating Burial will follow in the Harter Cemetery, Hannibal, Ohio.

Bertha L. Longden nee Morris

Bertha L. Longden, 79, Ashland homemaker

        Bertha L. Longden, 79, of rural Ashland died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Grant Medical Central in Columbus.

        Mrs. Longden was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Woodsfield to Adolph and Emma Morris.  She had been a resident of Ashland County since 1948.  Mrs. Longden was a homemaker and formerly was employed at Faultless Rubber Co., A.L. Garber Co. and Eagle Rubber Co.  Her memberships included V.F.W. Auxiliary and AMVETS Auxiliary.

        In 1944, Mrs. Longden married Clyde Longden, who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Searls and Brenda Longden, both of Ashland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Longden and Eddie and Debbie Longden, all of Ashland; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two sisters, Kathryn Piatt of Ashland and Nettie Brown of Woodsfield.

        Mrs. Longden was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.

        A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Heyl Funeral Home with Chaplain Kenneth Lindecamp officiating.

        Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park.

        Memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home, 227 Broad St., Ashland.

        Friends may visit with the family one hour before the service at the funeral home.

 

Virgil V. Morris

        Virgil V. Morris, 88, of 30167 Bracken Ridge Road, Lewisville, Ohio died Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio.

        He was born at Calais, Ohio on June 4, 1918 a son of the late John H. and Lilly G. Smith Morris.

        He was retired timberman for Schott Lumber Company in Caldwell, Ohio; a Protestant by faith and U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II. serving in the European Theater.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey Brother and Alberta Henthorn; two brothers, James T. Morris and Raymond Morris.

        Surviving are his wife, Pauline C. Denbow Morris whom he married on June 16, 1946; one sister: Genevieve Kelley of Woodsfield, Ohio; one brother: John Morris of Cambridge, Ohio; several nephews and nieces including Connie White of Lewisville, Ohio; several great nieces and nephews.

        Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2007 where funeral and military services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 with Rev. Lynn White officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio.

 

Boltz, Elverna E. Boltz nee McKelvey

    Boltz, Elverna E., age 91, of Forest Hill Care Center, St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Clarington, OH went to her eternal home with the Lord on January 14, 2007.

    She was born August 4, 1915 in Clarington, the daughter of the late Clyde and Mamie Maury McKelvey.

    She married Clay W. Boltz on March 31, 1936 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage living in Clarington. She was a farmer's wife and homemaker; who especially enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarington; where she was a member of the women's group, The Golden Links.

    In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law; Clayton and Odessa "Kay" Boltz, a sister; Mildred Carter and a brother: Woodrow McKelvey.

    Survivors include a daughter; Phyllis (Richard) Bohrer of Weirton, WV, four grandchildren; Tammy (Michael) Deaton, Agina (Paul) Kempen, Randy (Kathy) Bohrer and Christina (Keith) Ensminger, ten great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

    Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr., Clarington where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11a.m. with Pastor Everett Mitchell officiating. Interment in Clarington Cemetery, Clarington.

Sarah Eileen Briggs, 81 of O.K. Road, Belmont, Ohio died Friday, January 12, 2007 at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling.

She was born April 2, 1925 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Arthur Morris and Estella Heil Morris.

She was a former employee of Sam's Club in St. Clairsville and Valley Vending at Belmont Technical College. She was also a former employee of Ashland Rubber and National Latex in Ashland, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Briggs, Sr.; a sister, Emily Griffith Kuhn; two half brothers, Jim and Bill.

          Surviving are five sons, Floyd Jr. of Belmont, David of Marengo, Ohio, Mick of Ashland, Ohio, Steve of Hobe Sound, Florida and Scott of St. Clairsville; two brothers, Art (Rilla) Morris of Perrysville, Ohio and Tom Morris of Davenport, Florida; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Sunday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Homer Harden officiating. Burial follows in Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield

He was born December 28, 1963 at Wooster, Ohio a son of Tim & Dolly Piatt Burden of Woodsfield, Ohio and the late JoAnn Johnson Burden.

    He graduated from West Holmes High School, & served in the United States Navy for 5 years. He was employed by JW Aluminum in South Carolina as a Maintenance Supervisor for 17 years, and was a member of the Light House of Faith of Lore City, Ohio.

    Florence Elizabeth Moffett Colvin age 87 of Woodsfield, Ohio died January 14, 2007 at the Woodsfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Laings, Ohio November 15, 1919 a daughter of the late Daniel "Danny" Moffett and Dora Howell Kane Moffett. 

   She was a member of the Jackson Ridge Church of Christ.

   Preceded in death by her husband: Mitch Colvin - 1986; 2 sisters: Wilma Moffett, and Bernice Pederson; 1 brother: Harold "Pete" Moffett; 2 half brothers: Delmer & Earl Kane; 1 half sister: Dorothy Kane Wright; 2 stepsons: Dallas & Fred Colvin; 1 step son-in-law: Jim Lattimore: 1 step grandson: Billy Lattimore.

   She is survived by 1 daughter: Joyce (Dave) Landefeld - Woodsfield, Ohio, 2 step daughters: Marlene Lattimore - Oak Harbor, Ohio, Linda (Bob) Schenk - Oak Harbor, Ohio, 1 step son: Jack Colvin - Port Clinton, Ohio, 2 step daughters-in-law: Dorothy Colvin - Lakeside, Ohio, Bernice Colvin – Big Pine, California, 2 grandsons: Davey (Mollie) Landefeld, Darin (Misty) Landefeld, 1 great granddaughter: Madison Landefeld, 1 great grandson: Dustin Landefeld.     Marjorie Irene Hines, 93, of the Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (formerly of Creighton Ridge Road, Lewisville, Ohio, Stafford community) died Monday (Jan. 1, 2007).

    She was born near Stafford, Ohio, on April 15, 1913, a daughter of the late Wesley and Eliza McVay McConnell.

    She was a homemaker and a member of the Stafford Church of Christ, Stafford, Ohio. She was also a member of the Franklin Homemakers Club.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Heber Hines, in August 1981; an infant daughter, Carol Hines; two sisters, Eddie Mallett and Mary Ullman; five brothers, George, Harold, Harry, John, and Floyd McConnell.

    Surviving are five sons, Gerald (Bernice) Hines of Marietta, Bernard (Virginia) Hines of Marietta, Ralph (Sandra) Hines of Reno, Myron E. (Anne) Hines of Celina, Ohio, and Robert L. (Joyce) Hines of Lewisville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hupp, Lawrence Hupp

Lawrence Lee Hupp age 83 of Graysville, Ohio died Thursday January18, 2007 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born in Monroe County Ohio July 31, 1923 a son of the late Arthur Hupp & Minerva Harmon Hupp.

Lawrence retired from Consolidated Aluminum Corp. Hannibal, Ohio, and attended the Graysville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Graysville Fire Dept., Masonic Lodge of Stafford, Ohio, Moose Lodge of Woodsfield, served several years on the Switzerland of Ohio School Board, and was a highly decorated World War II combat veteran receiving 3 Bronze Stars, and a Purple Heart.

Preceded in death by 2 sisters: Gladys Scott and Georgia Morganstern.

He is survived by his wife Wilma Foraker Hupp of Graysville, Ohio, 3 sons: Charles (Sharon) Hupp - Louisville, Ohio, Gary (Connie) Hupp - Canton, Ohio, Terry (Joice) Hupp - Cambridge, Ohio, 1 daughter: Brenda (Billy) Arnolds-Jacksonburg, West Virginia, 8 grandchildren, & 2 great grandchildren.

Martha J. Lollathin, 80, of Belmont St., Bellaire, Ohio, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio.

She was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Wheeling, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Alverna Helen Day Bell.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #626, Bellaire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Eddie, Robert and Jimmy Bell and three sisters: Dorothy, Betty and Virginia.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Charles Lollathin; one son: Charles Robert Bell of Bridgeport, Ohio; four daughters: Janice (Al) Walker and Natura (Gary) Wright, all of Dalton, Ohio; Debi (John) Cogley of Youngstown, Ohio and Tammy (Brad) Peck of East Liverpool, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr., Clarington, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Natura Wright officiating.  Interment in Clarington Cemetery, Clarington, Ohio.

 

McFall, Opal M. McFall nee Cline

    New Matamoras - Opal Mae McFall, 79, of 823 Grandview Ave., New Matamoras, died at 1 p.m. Monday (Jan. 1, 2007) at her home. She was born May 8, 1927, in Etowah, Tenn., a daughter of Horace and Ecca S. Presswood Cline. She was a member of Church of Christ, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 1, Titusville, Fla., and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Titusville, Fla.

    She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Glover of New Matamoras, Linda Wolfe (Jim Busch) of New Matamoras, and Cindy Hopson (Larry) of Maryville, Tenn.; one son, William D. McFall Jr. of New Matamoras; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Hall of Whittier, Calif.; one nephew, Curtis Dills (Wanda) of New Martinsville, W.Va.; and special friend, Jim Johnson of Mims, Fla.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. McFall, on June 19, 1989; they were married Jan. 13, 1946. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Charles Cline; one sister, Arlie Dills; and two sons-in-law, Al Glover and Ronald Wolfe.

    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras, with David Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery, Knoxville, Tenn. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today.

 

Meager, Betty June Meager nee McGarry

Times Leader, Martins Ferry, Ohio, dated, January 8, 2007

    Betty June Meager, 78, of Glencoe, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at her home. She was born August 29, 1928 in Quincy, Ohio, daughter of the late George and Evelyn Radcliff McGarry.  Betty was a retired employee from the Holiday Inn in St. Clairsville and Tracy's Restaurant in St. Clairsville. She was a member of the Bellaire

Presbyterian Church.

    In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, William McGarry; and two sisters, Bertie Lou Colvin and Marlene Jeffers.

    Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Meager; a daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Pierce of Belmont; two granddaughters, Sherri (Rusty) Myers of Bellaire and Karen (Rick) Mihalic of St. Clairsville; three great grandchildren, Ashley, Sailor and Braedyn; three brothers, Ted McGarry of Stewartsville, Jack McGarry of Glencoe and Vick McGarry of Woodsfield; several nieces and nephews.

    Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gerald Blon officiating.  Burial will follow in Glencoe Cemetery.

 

Schumacher, Louise Schumacher

    Schumacher, Louise M., 93, of 45568 Sugartree Road, Woodsfield, Ohio, died at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2007, at her home.  She was born near Woodsfield, Ohio, on July 10, 1913, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Paulus Schumacher.  She was a retired bank teller at the Citizens National Bank in Woodsfield; a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, where she was a member of the Catholic Womens Club and the St. Francis Society.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Spangler, Marie Schumacher and Alfrida Smithberger; one brother, Edmund Schumacher.

    Surviving are two sisters, Agnes Burkhart of Canton, Ohio and Mildred Schumacher of Woodsfield; 14 nieces and nephews; 35 great-nieces and nephews; 16 great great-nieces and nephews.

    Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with the Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery, Woodsfield.  Vigil services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Sylvester Catholic School,

Copeland, Bradley Copeland

Times Leader, Martins Ferry, Ohio, dated, January 9, 2007

Bradley G. Copeland, 72, of Barnesville, Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at his home. He was born Feb. 16, 1934 in Somerton, Ohio, a son of the late Amos and Laura King Copeland.

Bradley was a Protestant, and retired from the Ormet Corporation, a member of the Barnesville American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Eagles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Swallie Copeland; three sisters, Patsy, Virginia and Jessie.

Surviving are a daughter, Louanne Starkey of Akron, Ohio; a son, Stephen (Brenda) Copeland of Wadsworth, Ohio; grandchildren: Adam, Brandi, Matthew, Jeromy, and Kristopher; five great-grandchildren: a sister, Shirley Dalpiaz of Lafferty, Ohio.

Friends will be received Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 702 East Main St., Barnesville, Ohio, where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Burial in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio.

 

Custer, Robert Custer

Times Leader, Martins Ferry, Ohio, dated, January 10, 2007

Robert A. "Bob" Custer, 80, of Wheeling, W. Va., an honorable, good and loving man, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2007 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling.  He was born March 27, 1926 in Wheeling, the son of the late Walter F. and Mary V. Hoyt Custer.

Bob was a lifetime member and Elder Emeritus of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Wheeling.

After graduation from Wheeling High School Class of 1944, he served with the U.S. Army of Occupation in Japan.

During his lifetime, he was employed by Wheeling Transfer Co., ITT

Continental Baking Co., Fire Extinguisher Co., and Riesbecks in Elm Grove.

He was a member of OVMC OPALS Keenagers, Ohio Lodge #1 AF & AM, and Teamsters Local 697.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Grace Nething.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Esther Richard Custer; a daughter, Linda King, her husband, Roger of Moundsville; a son, Robert R. "Bob" Custer, his wife, Kim, of Wheeling, W. Va.; three dearly loved grandchildren, Courtney L. King Kennedy, her husband, Shadd, of Cross Lanes, W. Va., Chris King of Moundsville, and Robert A "Bobby" Custer of Wheeling; one step-great-grandson, Christian Kennedy, and a brother, William F. Custer, his wife, Joan Ann of Wheeling; four nieces and four nephews.

Friends will be received at Kepner Funeral Home, 36th and Jacob St., South Wheeling, on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Burial services will be held at the convenience of the family in Emma Grove

Cemetery, Hannibal, Ohio.

Heddleson, Robert Heddleson

Marietta Times, Marietta, Ohio, dated, January 22, 2007

    NEW MATAMORAS, Ohio - Robert Heddleston, 74, of 46850 State Route 7, New Matamoras, died at 7 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 18, 2007) at Ross Heart Center, Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio.

    He was born Aug. 14, 1932, in New Matamoras, to Chester A. Heddleston, who died April 14, 1987; and Edna Beryl Cochran Heddleston, who died Dec. 1, 1987. He was employed as an inspector for Consolidated Aluminum. He was a graduate of Matamoras High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict.

    He is survived by three sons, Ronald Dale Heddleston of New Matamoras,

Rodney Eugene Heddleston (Wendy) of New Matamoras, and Robert Lee Heddleston (Lynetta) of Belpre; one daughter, Vicki Lynn Heddleston of New Matamoras; six grandchildren, Summer, Alex, Tyler and Autumn Heddleston, Mika Corbitt and Christopher Henry; and one sister, Ruby Allen of New Matamoras.

    He married Lila Jean Allen Heddleston on Nov. 9, 1958; she died April 2, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Alan Heddleston, who died Dec. 21, 1987; and a brother, John Heddleston.

Hogue, 89, of 300 High St., Woodsfield (formerly of Lewisville, Ohio), died at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 18, 2007) at the Monroe County Care Center in Woodsfield.  She was born Aug. 5, 1917, near Stafford, Ohio, a daughter of the late Raymond Herbert and Mary Pearl McConnell Ullman.

    She was a homemaker; a former cook at the former Skyvue High School near Graysville, Ohio; a member of the Hartshorn Ridge Church of Christ near Graysville, Ohio; and a member of the Stafford Home Demonstration Club.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald S. Hogue, on March 26, 1996; and one sister, Eunice Mallett.

    Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Ann Wiley of Lewisville, Ohio, N. Carol (Fred) Cline of Woodsfield, Ohio, and Ceinda (Randy) Archer of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Donald Gary (Carol) Hogue of Lewisville, Ohio; one brother, Raymond Herbert Ullman Jr.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home in Woodsfield, Ohio, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Friends will then be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hartshorn Ridge Church of Christ near Graysville, Ohio, where services will be held at 2 p.m. with Morris Hafley and Tim Fleeman officiating. Harry P. "Buck" Holliday, 72, of Jacobsburg, Ohio died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Forest Hill Retirement Center.

He was born at Jacobsburg on November 2, 1934 a son of the late Thurman and Ila A. Neff Holliday.

Buck was a retired employee of Navistar formerly International Harvester at Shadyside and Springfield, Ohio and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War having served as a weapons mechanic. He was also a member of the Jacobsburg United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann Beltz Holliday and brothers William "Bill" and Donald Holliday.

He is survived by his sons, Jody (Loretta) Holliday of Jacobsburg and Danny Holliday of Maryland; a sister, Alta Jane West of Powhatan Point and a grandson, Chad Holliday.

Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg on Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m. followed by funeral services at 4:15 p.m. Interment will be done at the convenience of the family.  Belmont County Council of the VFW will conduct military honors in the funeral home at 4 p.m. Sunday.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Smith Twp.            WATERFORD - Robert H. Kloes, 78, of Kloes Road, Waterford, died Thursday evening (Jan. 11, 2007) at his home.

           He was born in Pomeroy, Ohio, on June 13, 1928, to Herman and Helen Pooler Kloes. He was retired from RJF International, was a member of Marietta First Church of the Nazarene, was a veteran of World War II U.S. Navy, and was active in the local Mental Health Board and state board of NAMI. He was a good father, active in youth work in several area Nazarene churches.

          On June 21, 1948, he married Wanda May Kloes, who preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2006.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Timothy Kloes of Waterford and Christina Taylor and her husband, Stephen, of Clarington, Ohio. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brittany Harris and her husband, Daniel, Rachel, Tarah, Michael and Aiden Taylor, all of Clarington, and Courtney Buford of Lancaster; and one brother, Manning Kloes of Middleport, Ohio.

         He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one son, Robert Kloes.

         Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Marietta First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, and at the church one hour before the service. Family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

      Mildred "Kate" Rusin, 94, of Powhatan Point, Ohio died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Shadyside Care Center.

      She was born December 9, 1912, in Montclair, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Pete and Mary Visnic.  She was a former employee of Ohio Edison R.E. Burger Plant in Dilles Bottom and a member of the Jacobsburg Bible Church.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rusin; two daughters, Virginia Bellville and Rose Marie Rusin; a grandson, Steven Bellville; two brothers and two sisters.

      Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Tomlinson and her husband, Sonnie, of Powhatan Point; two grandchildren, Kevin Bellville of Dilles Bottom and Mark Tomlinson and his wife, Erica, of Powhatan Point; three great grandchildren, Stephanie, Amber, and Alyssa; a sister, Helen Visnic of Cincinnati.

Legion Auxiliary and order of the Eastern Star, Captina Chapter #489 all of Powhatan Point, Ohio.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Oscar L. Stewart, two brothers Sammy Rea and Louigi Rea; five sisters, Rose Gordon, Paula Visnic, Mary Bulich, Yolanda McConnaugy, and Adeline Peddicord.

      Surviving are three sons, Harold (Wendy) Stewart of Powhatan Point, OH, Jerry Stewart of Columbus, OH, and David Stewart of Panama City, FL; two daughters, Judy Stewart of Powhatan Point, OH and Phyllis (Randy) Monahan of Woodsfield, OH. Two brothers, Elzie (Inez) Rea and Herman Rea all of California, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was born August 5, 1945 in Jerusalem, Ohio, the son of the late James Russell and Helen Tiber Wiley.  He was a laborer and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Francis "Fritz" Ackerman, 2 sisters; Elsie Rosenlieb and Norma Brookover.

She is survived by 3 daughters: Kay (Mike) Jorris - Woodsfield, Ohio, Marlene Ackerman - Woodsfield, Ohio, Sandra (Mike) Emdin - Denver, Colorado, 1 Son: Fred (Martha) Ackerman - Woodsfield, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    Wilburt Walter Claus, 89, of 33101 Christman Ridge Road, Lewisville, Ohio died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at the Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio.  He was born near Lewisville, Ohio on May 7, 1917 a son of the late Walter C. and Lydia Kilburn Claus. He attended the Barnhart and Lewisville School; was a retired farmer, school bus driver and serviced gas wells in the area. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ near Lewisville, Ohio and was a United States Navy veteran, having served in Hawaii during World War II. After he retired and could no longer do outside work, Wilburt enjoyed piecing and quilting quilts.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Freda Claus; one sister, Grace (Ralph) Jones; and aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.

    Surviving are his wife, Beryl Christman Claus, whom he married on Sept. 20, 1947; three sons: Roger (Phyllis) Claus of Lewisville; Dale (Susanne) Claus of Columbus, Ohio; and Ray (Deborah) Claus of Plainfield, Ind.; one sister, Evelyn (Charles E.) Reed; one brother-in-law: Paul (Marie) Christman; six grandchildren: Russell (Natalie) Claus, Andrew Claus, Ryan Claus, Benjamin Claus, Aaron Claus and Capt. Pamela Claus of the United States Air Force; one great-grandson: Nicholas Claus; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also an avid hunter.

    Surviving are his wife, Wilcie Mae Myers Coleman whom he married on August 30, 1968; one sister: Rose Gordon of South Carolina; three brothers: Willie D. Coleman of Roanoke, Virginia, Dayton Coleman and Trinkle Coleman both of Prater/Vansant, Virginia; two step grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; special friends and caregivers: Dick and Helen Ward of Woodsfield, Ohio.

She was an avid quilter.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Fankhauser and Olive Kalnai.

          Jo Ellen Thorn, 64, formerly a resident of Goose Run Rd., Marietta, and Wedgefield, S.C., died Jan. 7, 2007, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1942 in Harlem, Montana, a daughter of Clyde and Ruby Southwick Miller.  She had been employed by SAFE Federal Credit Union, retiring in 1999.

          Surviving are her husband, Ray Riddle; two sons, Robert (Lori) Thorn of Atlanta, Ga., Scott (Tiva) Thorn of Sumter, SC; three granddaughters, Brittany, Sabrina and Kristan Thorn; a brother, Milton Miller of Clifton, Co.; special cousin Florence Allen, and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all.

          She was preceded in death by a sister, Iona Buck; a brother Jay Miller, and a half sister, Teeny Richmond.
