Cemetery Plans: The southwest corner

St. Joseph's parish proposes to build a parking lot in the southwest corner of the Highland cemetery. The lot would not be fenced. The parish plans to follow the existing grade; there is no plan to cut into the existing hill and a retaining wall is not shown on the plans.

Instead of the plants shown here - daylilies, Australian pines and hackeberries - the parish will investigate planting native Minnesota prairie plants. (Large image of parking lot).

A historic marker may be placed at the east end of the parking lot ( X on the map). Jim Rogers, a member of the Friends of the Highland Cemetery, is drafting the message for the marker.

A new fence will be installed along the front and sides of the cemetery graveyard. The fence will not extend around the wooded area in the rear of the cemetery. Comments? E-mail Jim Rogers
