Benjamin B. Edilson was born on August 19, 1869 in Krylof, Russia, which is now known as Svetlovodsk in the Ukraine, and emigrated to the US in 1889. His parents names were Mordecai and Gussie Edilson. He died at the age of 63 in Los Angeles, California on February 9, 1933 and is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Bertha Edilson was born Bertha Naudelstein in Katerynoslav, Russia, which is now called Dnepropetrovsk in the Ukraine, on August 15, 1870 and emigrated to the US in 1889; she died at the age of 77 on February 14, 1948 in Los Angeles, California and is entombed in the Home of Peace Mausoleum. She grew up with her first cousin, Leon Trotsky (Lev Davidovich Bronstein), in Russia.

It appears that they were married in 1889 and arrived in the U.S. in 1889 with Benjamin's brother, Morris Edilson, who was born in August 1878. They had four children:
Henry Edilson was born on March 25, 1893 in New York and died on May 16, 1958 in Los Angeles.

Marian Edilson was born on January 8, 1902 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and died on April 22, 1975 in New York.

Benjamin and the family moved to Colorado Springs sometime during or before 1902 and raised their family there for the next 15 years. He was a designer of women's clothes. In November 1906, Meyer Edilson age 22, Benjamin's younger brother, arrived in the United States and apparently came to live with the family. In 1917 the whole family moved to Los Angeles, California .
